Cromwell, Oklahoma
Hazard Data Summary
Threat Summary
Cromwell faces a critical hazard level of 10.0. The Carter Oil Company Gasoline Plant is a nearby Superfund site that contains dangerous substances. Because these chemicals are not fully identified, they could be in the soil or water. This means you should be careful when playing outside or using well water. Living near old refineries like the Cromwell Oil Refinery increases these risks. Staying away from restricted industrial areas is the best way to keep your family safe from harm.
Action Required
Residents of Cromwell should contact the Francis Auxiliary for community-based support regarding local environmental health concerns. For questions about safe housing and potential relocation assistance due to proximity to the Carter Oil Company Gasoline Plant, contact the HUD Housing Agency at 1-800-569-4287. Engaging with the Cross Timbers Prescribed Burn Association or the Twin Rivers Prescribed Burn Assn can provide further information on regional land management and safety. It is vital to request soil and water testing through county health departments to ensure your home remains safe from industrial contaminants.
