Hazard Data Summary
Threat Summary
Childersburg faces a critical safety score of 9.6 out of 10 due to nearby industrial activity. The Alabama Army Ammunition Plant is the primary concern. These hidden chemicals can cause long-term health problems if you breathe them in or touch them while playing or gardening outside.
Action Required
Residents must take proactive steps to ensure housing safety and environmental health. For assistance with housing concerns related to environmental hazards, contact the United Way of Central Alabama, Inc. at 205-458-8950. They serve as the regional HUD agency for the Birmingham area and can provide guidance on safe living conditions. Additionally, engage with local environmental groups like Aeonia Preserve Inc to stay informed about local land use and conservation efforts.
