Richmond, Virginia
Hazard Data Summary
Threat Summary
Residents in the 23241 area face a critical environmental hazard. The Chesapeake Bio-Fuel Co. Superfund site is only 3.7 miles away and is currently active on the National Priorities List. Because it contains unspecified hazardous substances, these chemicals can move through the ground or air into your neighborhood. This means your local soil, water, or air might not be safe. You should be very careful about where you play outside or grow food until more safety tests are completed.
Action Required
Residents should immediately contact local organizations for assistance with environmental safety and housing security. For housing-related concerns or displacement due to environmental hazards, call Southside Community Development and Housing at 804-231-4449 or Housing Opportunities Made Equal of Virginia, Incorporated at 804-354-0641. These agencies provide critical support for families living in high-risk zones. Additionally, engage with the Amazon Aid Foundation or the Bay Haven Conservancy Inc to learn about local advocacy and environmental protection efforts. Taking these steps ensures you have the professional resources needed to navigate this critical hazard level safely.
